Composted, not just dried
Raw dung burns roots and draws flies. Ours is composted until it is dark, crumbly and earthy-smelling, which is when the microbial life that actually feeds your soil has established itself.
Why we do not sell raw dung
We are often asked for plain cow dung, fresh or dried. We do not sell it; we sell only gau khaad. Fresh dung is mostly water, so a kilo of it carries little plant food, and what it does carry is not yet in a form roots can take up. Composting changes that: a kilo of gau khaad holds far more nutrients than a kilo of raw dung, and it feeds the soil without burning young roots. It is a better fertilizer, and that is the only reason we make it.
The same khaad we use on our own fields
We grow on our own land with this gau khaad. Every bag we sell comes from the same compost.
For terrace gardens and small farms
It suits kitchen gardens, terrace planters, fruit trees and vegetable beds. For potted plants, mix roughly one part khaad to four parts soil. For beds, a layer worked into the top few inches before planting.
Bag sizes and farm quantities
5 kg and 20 kg bags, minimum 5 kg. If you farm and need it by the tonne, tell us your acreage and we will quote wholesale — several organic growers around Moinabad and Shankarpally already take it that way.
Questions about our gau khaad
Is this raw dung or compost?
Composted. Raw dung burns roots and attracts flies; ours is composted until it is dark and crumbly.
Do you sell fresh or dried cow dung?
No, only gau khaad. Composted manure carries far more nutrients per kilo than raw dung and does not burn roots, and it is what we use on our own fields. For havan and puja we make gobar mudde, hand-shaped dung cakes.
What sizes do you sell?
5 kg and 20 kg bags, with a 5 kg minimum. Wholesale rates for farm-scale orders on request.
How much should I use for pots?
Roughly one part khaad to four parts soil for potted plants. For garden beds, work a layer into the top few inches before planting.
